Lego Star Wars Sith Infiltrator

Another out of production Lego Star Wars set to look at today.  This is the most recent Sith Inflitrator set, 7961, that came out in 2011.  I have it a little while and finally got some photos taken for you guys.  This is the third version of the ship produced by lego so lets see what it has.  You get long narrow ship, 4 minifigures plus the hoverbike and two probe driods.

The Road to the 1000 Dollar Tactical Squad

So I was thinking about GW new limited edition resin Void Shield Generator trying to understand what the reasoning for the release was.  They sold them out very fast so clearly a larger run would have been better for them but that would have made them less "Limited".   I have discussed in the past that GW is selling more and more expensive products to fewer and fewer customers and how that has an adverse affect on the 40k gaming community.  The joke was that they were working themselves to a 1000 dollar tactical squad.  The Void Shield Generator seems totally down this path to me so I started to think like GW to see why they would release the product this way.  Remember that this is not like an alternative sculpt or similar collector style version of something.  It is the only one released currently so if you are a purist or non-scratch builder this is the only "legal" model for this terrain piece which I here is a pretty useful addition for some armies.

Double Volcano Cannon?

I think Forgeworld just jumped the shark.  The Volcano Cannon is a battle titan weapon (Warlord or Reaver Titan).  Something that is a double Volcano cannon is like a Imperator or Warmonger Titan weapon (Vengence Cannon comes to mind).  The baneblade type platform is usually rocking scout titan class weapons (plasma blastgun, vulcan megabolter) so not is this just 1 class bigger but 2.  Seems like someone is running out of ideas.

Dreamforge Games: Leviathan Crusader Unboxing

Today we open the box on the Dreamforge Games Leviathan Crusader that I got as part of the sale last month.  I have previously noted that the box is pretty big.

Blood Bowl Pro Elf Team

This is Games Workshop's more recent Pro Elf team for Blood Bowl.  When third edition launched they had wood elves, dark elves, and High elves which all got new models due to the phase out of lead during the transition between 2nd edition and 3rd edition blood bowl.  The Pro Elf team did not reappear in the rules until later.

X-Wing Miniatures: Slave I Expansion

So today I take a look at the contents of the Slave I expansion pack for the X-Wing Miniature game.  Now this ship was part of the 2nd wave so old news to people who have played the game from the beginning but some newer players might be interested in see what is inside.

Two Great Posts Showing the Size of the Imperial Knight

So after ordering my Leviathan Crusader, I did some looking to see how big the new games workshop imperial knight is as it was originally listed at 8 inches but later this was changed to 6.  After the models dropped people started posting pictures which I could just take and repost like some people would but I will link instead as the proper thing:

John at John's Toy Soldiers lines his up next to a Warhound, Stompa, Dreadnought and such.
Really is a great shot of the Knights place in the world.

I also found this post which places the GW Knight next to the Leviathan Crusader.  So it looks to me that the Crusader is more stompa sized than knight.

Look What the Postman Brought

I am weak.  I could not resist Dreamforge Games' sale a few weeks back.   28 mm Scale Leviathan Crusader for 75 dollars plus shipping seemed like a solid deal.  I had thought about getting one of each type plus an extra weapon but I think my wife would have killed me.  So I settled for just one.  The specs say that this stands 8.5 inches tall which places it about half way between a Games Workshop Imperial Knight Titan and a Forge World Warhound Titan.

Eriochrome is Lord Business

I finally got out to see the Lego Movie with my daughter.  We were supposed to see it weeks ago as part of a classmates birthday party, but my daughter was sick that week and we have been busy every weekend since.  While I do not use the Kragle, I do have my sets separated by type and kept far away from the kids set.  Ofcourse I have no where near the layout that appears in the movie as I have many other hobbies (and not that much money).

I certainly do not use the legos in the same imaginative way my daughter does (or I used to as a kid).  Lego models have actually gotten so good at building that specific thing that it seems that is all the each set is for, but maybe we need to release the Krakens (kids) on the sets for some more fun (after I get the pictures for reviews at least).

Lego Star Wars A-Wing Set

Just like the issue facing Fantasy Flight Games with their X-Wing Miniature games, the lego company has to deal with the fact that the core movie Star Wars universe has a pretty limited selection of things to make as a product.  Today we look at the most recent version of the A-Wing from the Lego Star Wars series.  If I can recall this is the 4th A-Wing, they have produced.  As a big fan of the A-Wing from the X-Wing series of computer games and the fact that it is generally a cheaper ship, I now have 3 of these from different releases.

One Man Stores

On hearing the news of a Battle Bunker was being converted to a one man store, I was already to write a long post on game retail and opportunity costs and what not.  But really what is the point.  GW corporate does not read this blog.  I doubt any of you guys out there love the one man store concept.  The hierarchy of games stores is Friendly Local Game Store >> Multiman GW Store >> Single Man GW Store > Generic Retail Price Game Vendor > Nothing.  You might be able to fiddle around a little with that based on how you define stuff like a local games store that sells at retail but is very supportive probably drops in right next to Multiman store.  One Man Stores are just an example of GW not seeing the Forest through the Trees.

My posts from the past 2 days are way more interesting:

The Truth About D Weapons

So I cannot say if D weapons are ruining the game of 40K when they are allowed, but what I do know is that GW implemented these big weapons wrong and that is really the issue.

Getting the GW You Deserve?

Are we getting the GW we deserve?  That is the question that came to mind when reading 2 opinion pieces on other blogs in the last week.  Both made some good points but seem to absolve GW of a little bit too much of the blame in my opinion.

Games Day Blood Bowl Lizardmen Team: Saurus

Another look at the Games Day Blood Bowl Lizardmen Team.  Previously I showed the skinks and Krox, so today I will go through the Saurus which are all 5 unique.  Again you are one short of the proper amount for the team and the replacements since this was a limited run are costly.

Lots of detail on these so I have a ton of pictures of them.  I have the models in no specific order so we will just go through them.

OMG, Paint

All this talk of knights and stuff got me in the mood for a little hobby stuff so I pulled out the paints and some GW models.  I takes some work to set up for painting so not much really got done but it was interesting having the stuff out again.  Do you see the models?
