Epic Squat Land Train

With all the Legion Imperialis Hotness going around, I got inspired to look at my old Epic stuff.  This then inspired me to look around for a few items that I did not have for my various armies.  While I had some Squat Land Train cars in a sealed blister, I lacked the base train so I found one for the collection.

Epic Scale Warlord Titan

This cover image really brings me back to my youth.  It was the cover of the first White Dwarf I ever had and was also used for the Rules Expansion for Epic Space Marine.

With Legions Imperialis filling up the feeds, I got inspired to look at my old collection and one item I lacked was a Classic Plastic titan.  Now these are not cheap anymore with the boxes going for hundreds of dollars.  This one was more than what was reasonable but it was pristine unpainted and almost the exact weapons.  It looks so new I wonder if someone is running these off on some home injection molding system.

Even the Void Shield disk looks good.

Four weapons were included.  Likely will look for some more ones in the future.

I did a quick push fit assembly and the weapons definitely like to fall off.  Arm also hangs very close to leg on this one.

Side view for completeness.

I also got a quick picture of the whole family together.  Mommy, Daddy, and two young ones assembled now.  Paint for me is always another issue especially when dealing with such old models.  It will be interesting to see how people feel about new verse old scale.

Stormclaw and Future Campaign Box Sets

So GW tried something different this past week to attract hobbyist's attention.  They put up for pre order a limited release campaign box with a mini rulebook, slim scenerio book, and some existing sprues with 2 limited edition plastic characters.  I will admit that I am intrigued by this move.  I have no interest in the set as I only have vanilla marines and nids and have negative interest in starting any other armies for a game I have not played in a few years now but as I GW watcher I try to keep an eye on what is happening.

Is a New Dawn Almost Upon Us?

So GW is going to drop the 7th Edition of 40K on everyone tomorrow after only 23 months of 6th edition after 4 year cycles for both 4th and 5th editions.  Rumors have turned to confirmations and the fanboys have their credit cards ready.  I have looks at the stuff a little but nothing I saw made me go I have to get out my stuff and get back to the table with it.  Probably the 195 dollar bill for just the rules and the codexes for my marines and nids is not leaving me very inspired.  Small rule tweaks aside, I think my problem is still a lack of confidence in producing even a semi dangerous army out of the models I already have.

Anyone out there really jazzed about the new edition or does you see it as just an attempt to prop up the fiscal numbers at the end of the corporate year to hide the weakness of sales.  If they even have a 100K active players still, a new edition of 85 dollar books is worth 8.5 M dollars which is like a 5% sales boost plus investments on new minis to better match your armies to the new rules.

New Revised Edition Just in Time for End of Year

GW appears to have scheduled their new revision of 40K to ship just at the end of their fiscal year.  Previously they had been launching in the summer months so I can only really guess that this is an attempt to squeeze a few more dollars out of the shrinking player base to make this year look better.   I guess it is also getting about time to be looking for the price rise sheet.  GW got money out of me last summer with the closure of the specialist games lines but has not seen a penny since and mainline games go back more than a few years now with no purchases here (all the way back to a couple of months after the previous nid book came out last edition).  FFG with X-Wing and Lego are getting my funny money now.

The rules adjustments I have seen talked about does not really have any pull with me so whatever they call it I will still probably just watch semi interested from afar.

The Truth About D Weapons

So I cannot say if D weapons are ruining the game of 40K when they are allowed, but what I do know is that GW implemented these big weapons wrong and that is really the issue.
