If you are interested in getting involved in Blood bowl but do not want to drop the 50 bucks the teams now run an option is to convert your own. I personally did not like the look of the lizardman team so I built my own out of the current plastic warhammer boxes. You essentially need about half a box of skinks and half a box of saurus. Throw in a Krox and you are at a full team. Assemble as normal but cut of the weapons and you are ready to go. I started painting them to get ready for an the underworld cup this year which was supposed to be 15 minutes from my house but got relocated to 10 hours away so I missed it.
These guys are pretty gruesome, can't imagine what the ones you didn't like looked like.
ReplyDeleteGood work guy - I'd say spring for 6 more round bases to make them match. I really like the idea of converting a team - I wanna try dwarves.
ReplyDeleteGood point on the bases. I have a ton of random bases so I will look into that.
ReplyDeleteThe team looks really cool eriochrome! So much more character than the standard models :)
ReplyDeleteAnother good option for blood bowl teams is to use those created by other manufacturers - There are lots of games similar to BB out there (although none as fun, i have to say). But generally the miniatures are a lot cheaper than the GW equivalent. Obviously this means you cant play at the local GW store with them, but I'm guessing thats not a major issue for most people...
I'd recommend starting over at Tritex games (http://www.tritex-games.co.uk/) - Jason is a very reliable dealer as well as being a very friendly chap. He always has good advice about team building or the models etc...
I have actually gotten stuff from Tritex about 3 years ago he used to deal with a good deal of old and stripped GW blood bowl stuff but last time I checked his site he looked to have gotten out of that. I got a 16 player chaos team from him as well as some random 2nd edition stuff.
