X-Wing Miniatures: Z-95 Headhunter
Rebel Swarm time with the Z-95 Headhunter. Standard blister contents with cards, counters, dials and ship model.
The Z-95 is the proto X-Wing. This version has quad engines but only two cannons. It also has very short wings compared to the nose length. I have a lego Z-95 which only has dual engines and smaller laser cannons.
Pretty well done.
I especially like these ordinance bins.
The ship only comes with 4 pilot cards which is a bit weak as it is such a low cost ship. Another generic and unique pilot would have but it better in line with the tie blister in the same price point. I am guessing they were already saving pilot ideas for the Scum and Villainy. Ship starts at 12 points and that buys you 2's down the card. Not an impressive ship in terms of stats but it does allow Rebel players to increase their numbers. The Two veteran pilots Blount and Cracken are still modestly priced. Blount's card text allows his shots to hit without doing damage which means he is only going to be using that in very careful coordination with other cards or special abilities. Cracken gives a nearby ship a free action if he attacks. Give him swarm tactics and a Bandit squadron wingman and send them off to see if they can do some damage.
5 upgrade cards to go with the pilots. The two missiles seem like they would work with Blount but the failsafe would certainly not be a option for him. Wingman is not bad if you have a pilot/skill that will be generating stress markers for its use. Decoy is like weaker longer range swarm tactics. Might be tempting on a large base ship to boost the range and its added survivability makes the swapping down less harmful. Remember you could also use it to boost the pilot skill of owner if you have a high skill pilot who might not have a target this turn.
Overall an interesting ship which can probably be used to squeeze one more ship into your squadron or as a swarm. I will probably stick with 1 as the scum and villainy pack comes with 2 more.
