Dungeon Saga: Dwarf Kings Quest Solo Play Pdfs

So I have started creating a set of pdf's which do the map and rule reveals for the Dungeon Saga Core game like I did for the Star Saga core game.  It is pretty late but they do not take that long to do since DS mission structures are simpler than those found in Star Saga which has lots of text to match different events during the game.  I will take some time to get through them all so check back occasional for updates for more of the Adventures from the Core game to be added.

The pdfs can be found here:

Currently they included the 2 Training Mission A,B and then missions 1 through 6.

Star Saga Solo Play PDFs

I created a set of pdf's early in the year to improve solo play for Star Saga.  Essentially the pdfs use internal hyperlinks to keep as much secret from the players until they have to know.  So it only shows you the map one room at a time.  It shows you only the terminal options available when you select a terminal and it lets you know if an item needs a search roll or has nothing or something special for the mission when you select the item.

They can be found here:

If you have rules questions for the Core game, most of those are covered in this boardgame geek thread:

Terrain Crate Abandoned Factory for Star Saga?

Mantic has now released their Terrain Crate 2 kickstarter to retail.  Most of it is designed around a modern time period but some of it might be useful in other games.  Here I look at how the Abandoned Factory Set scales and looks with Star Saga models.

It pairs pretty nicely with some of the tile sets from the expansions.  The Devil's Betrayal and Blackstar Station sets have tiles that are a little less neat than those found in the core game.

Core game tables on left with similar sized substitutes from the Abandoned Factory set.

One square sized stuff which might actually have something in it as tables are almost always empty when searched.

These two on the right would likely be fully line of sight blocking.

Possible door for less high tech areas.

While it was designed for something like Here's Negan, I think this set works with Star Saga also.

Kings of War Vanguard Model Groupings

Mantic has a tendency to just throw a lot of parts in a box or bag in their stuff which some times makes it hard to tell if you got everything.  I have gone through the kickstarter posts and collected images of the various parts and collected them here.  No images of the hard plastics as it is pretty easy to know if they are there or not.

Dungeon Saga: Keldan Character Card

Finally, we have Keldan, Elf fighter.  He is the last of the kickstarter exclusive models from the Dungeon Master pledge in need of a full character card.

Painted Models?

Look, I painted two models.  These two are for an more formal version of my Dungeon Saga Undead Boss Templates that I used to make the Bosses I have linked on the Dungeon Saga Index.  I thought having models painted by me would make them the character cards pop a little more than my unpainted or image borrowed from online versions.  They both could use a little more work but are fine for bones models.

Dungeon Saga: Engineer Class in IronWatch 48

So I decided to write up the missing Engineer Class for Dungeon Saga, but instead of just posting it here I submitted it to the Ironwatch Magazine, which is a Mantic Fan Magazine.  It appears in issue 48 and there are also a set of Dungeon Saga missions in the issue by another Dungeon Saga fan.  Go check both articles out.

Above is the Gunn Character card to go with the stats and full rules in the issue for building your own Engineer of any race.  He has a new feat and their are new abilites to set the engineer up as a unique class but in the same vain as the existing ones.

Dungeon Saga Boss: Lich Lord Master Necromancer

The Lich Lord is natural progression of the master necromancer into unlife.  He is able to control a vast range of undead and also commands impressive magical attacks.  He is weak in combat so heroes will need to fight through his minions to get into contact with him.

Dungeon Saga Boss: King of the Dead

Once the mightiest King in the lands of Mantica, this lord would not let death separate him from his power.  Now he controls a horde of undead creeping across the land but if it comes to it he truly is a terror on his own in combat. The King of the Dead is extremely tough to wound and will probably require Epic heroes with an array of skills to beat in combat but not all quests require you to beat the villian.  Sometimes you just have to get past him to be successful.

Dungeon Saga Boss: Bone Giant

Rarely does a necromancer have the power to raise a giant's remains to the unlife but when they do it is an incredibly dangerous weapon to use against his enemies.  A band of heroes will need a cunning plan if confronted with a Bone Giant.

The Hollow

Once a master Sorcerer, the Hollow is now barely a shadow.  By the time many see him, they are in heart of his power suffering from his sorcery.  Those that survive long enough to attack back often find their blades almost slipping through him as he disappears only to appear again a few feet away laughing at their pitiful struggles.

Naratekh Mummified Sword Master

Once the sword master to a mighty king, Naratekh followed his master in death when he failed to defend him from an unknown assassin.  Why he walks the crypts of Mantica still is unknown.  Maybe his failure fuels his unlife or he is cursed to defend the graves of those he failed to protect in life.  Very dangerous at close quarters, wise heroes will avoid contact if possible.

The Shadow Hunter: Dungeon Saga Undead Boss

The Shadow Hunter is hunting for souls.   It especially craves those of spell casters.  Some scholars believe that this tortured soul was once a honorable Witch Hunter whose continued existence is the result of a curse during his final failed mission.  Whether the Shadow Hunter consumes the captured souls of those he slays, or takes them to a higher power is a mystery to even the most learned men of Mantica.

Dungeon Saga: Flesh Golem Boss

Occasionally a Necromancer with create a Flesh Golem to act as some additional muscle.  More intelligent than Zombies, they can be given basic commands and operate at great distances without oversight.  This frees up the Necromancer's concentration to control more of the lesser minions.

Albress Necromantic Apprentice

After years as a failed Court Magician, Albress felt his mortality creeping up on him.  Finally willing to make deals with Darker Powers, Albress pledged his services to a master of Necromancy for a chance at learning magic to extend his own existence.  While no one would consider Albress dangerous, his spells allow him to get a little more out of his masters minions.

Dread Knight

Dread Knights are an incredibly dangerous undead warrior.  Formidable in both attack and defense lone heroes are advised to give them a wide berth and wait for help.

This is another Boss for Dungeon Saga for use in Uncharted Dungeons that I created.  He can supplement Dead Eye to provide new adventures for your heroes.  He is based on my Revenant Template except I did not apply the +1 Armor as I thought that would make him to tough in this case for lower level heroes.

Dead Eye: Revenant Ranger

Rumors persist in the area of a foul undead archer who stalks the crypts of Mantica with a band of unmerry former men.  His hatred for the living leads him to slay any who come near but a few have managed to escape.  These lucky souls have named him Dead Eye.  Anyone who knows his true name have long since turned to dust.

So here is my first attempt at making a new Bosses for Dungeon Saga.  This Bosses is designed for use in the Uncharted Dungeons where you need to make your own Bosses but they fail to give you any templates for the Undead.  People are also very interested in combining Invisible Overlord and Uncharted Dungeons so I have tried to create a Boss that would not stress the IO rules with lots of special choices.

For Undead it is make the character sort of normally The first template I am trying is Revenant:

Revenant Boss:
-1 Move, +1 Armor, Skeletal(Ignores first hit from any attack).

Dungeon Saga Invisible Overlord Test: See My Shame

So I am going to use Adventure 2 from the Core game as an example of the expanded IO orders I have been working on.  The basics of the same that you draw an IO card between hero actions checking for interrupts and then two cards in succession during the overlord turn.  Spoilers after the Jump.

Dungeon Saga Invisible Overlord: Improving Solo and Pure Co-op Gameplay

I like many other backers were very interested in the Solo and Pure Co-op version of Dungeon Saga.  I doubt I would have pledged for the product had this not been included.  Now the rules as presented in the Adventurer's Companion are best described as unclear.  Even if you remember that you still need a mission timer for those missions and spend time figuring it out, I still find it sort of unsatisfying.  I seem to be either making decisions that should have better guidance or finding the rules telling me to do things that really stick out as undesirable for the overlord's minions.
